2005 Day One 6/20/2005
Arrivals, Registration, First Meal Together
Today was day one of our SYLC week. All our sites arrived safely
at Camp St. Francis, just some earlier than others. With sites arriving
at different times the day was shorter than it was for others. Registration
went smoothly and we started to have the new SYLC participants mingle
with each other. While we were waiting for all our participants
to arrive, we had our first ice breaker, Hunter Bear and Ninja(a
twist of rock paper scissors). After that game was finished we took
a stroll on the new beach that they would be staying by. Some played
a game of volleyball while others walked along the oceanside for
awhile. Then our fellow Salesians arrived and got registered, once
we had everyone set on registration we had our first dinner together,
it involved everyone being separated into 14 groups and meeting
new people. We had a skit during our dinner, Fr John Roche played
a scientist trying to bring Don Bosco back from the past but was
dismayed when he brought the wrong Don Bosco(an English Rock star)
back from the past. After the conclusion of dinner, we had our first
social which was a twist of a Jeopardy game, with SYLC participants
split into teams made by the color of their lanyard. After our first
social we had our first Good Night, which concluded our evening.
Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves which is great.
